Becky is a well-known Welsh cyclist and former pupil of King Henry VIII Comprehensive school.  Specialising in track cycling. Becky beat Germanys Kristina Vogel to win her first World Gold medal in 2013.

After leaving King Henry VIII Grammar School, David graduated from All Souls College, Oxford.  David held some important appointments including, Principal of New In Hall in 1546, an advocate in the Court of Arches in 1548, MP for Steyning and Monmouthshire, the first Principal of Jesus College.  In 1575, David became a Commisioner of the Admiralty along with John Herbert.  David was buried in St Mary’s Church, in what is known as the Lewis Chapel.

St David Lewis was the youngest child of Reverend Morgan Lewis, Headmaster of King Henry VIII Grammer School. In 1642 he was ordained as a Catholic Priest.  He was arrested in 1678, at St Michael’s Church, Llantarnam, and condemned at the Assizes in Monmouth in March 1679 as a Catholic priest and for saying Catholic Masses.  Finally brought back to Usk for his execution, he was hanged in 1679 and posthumously disemboweled.  Lewis was the last Welshman to become a Jesuit until 2001, more than 300 years later.

Not only is Owen a former pupil of King Henry, but he is a well known Author, Poet and Scriptwriter.  Owen’s first novel, Resistance has been translated into ten languages. The novel has also been adapted into a film, also called Resistance, which was released in the UK in 2011 starting the famous Welsh actor Michael Sheen.

Raymond Williams was a Welsh academic, novelist and critic.  Several of his writings were published with 750,000 copies of his books sold in UK editions alone and there are many translations available.  On the success of his books Raymond was invited to return to Cambridge in 1961, eventually becoming Professor of Drama.  Raymond Williams died on 26 January 1988, aged 66.

Richard A Wills played rugby for a number of years just missing out on being honoured nationally.  While he has been creating some wonderful painting over the years, it was only in 2012 that he found the time is exhibit some of these paintings in a Monmouth Gallery.  Some of his paintings have been commissioned by the WRU and IRB and include works of some well known Welsh rugby starts including Neil Jenkins and Martyn Williams.
